چکیده
In this paper, the method of generating inflow turbulence based on fluctuation library (TFL) in direct numerical simulation (DNS) hypersonic turbulent boundary layer (TBL) is investigated. The application TFL to DNS a supersonic TBL shows that, although there are significant differences freestream between and target TBL, flow could successfully develop downstream as fluctuations suitably scaled added inflow. Direct numerical simulation of hypersonic turbulent boundary layers. Part 1. Initialization and comparison with experiments
A systematic procedure for initializing supersonic and hypersonic turbulent boundary layers at controlled Mach number and Reynolds number conditions is described. The initialization is done by locally transforming a true direct numerical simulation flow field, and results in a nearly realistic initial magnitude of turbulent fluctuations, turbulence structure and energy distribution. The time sc...

متن کاملWeak Dirichlet Boundary Conditions for Wall-Bounded Turbulent Flows
In turbulence applications, strongly imposed no-slip conditions often lead to inaccurate mean flow quantities for coarse boundary-layer meshes. To circumvent this shortcoming, weakly imposed Dirichlet boundary conditions for fluid dynamics were recently introduced in [4]. In the present work, we propose a modification of the original weak boundary condition formulation that consistently incorpo...
متن کاملOverview of Direct Numerical Simulation of Particle Entrainment in Turbulent Flows
An overview of removal and re-entrainment of particles in turbulent flows is presented. The procedure for the direct numerical simulation (DNS) of the Navier-Stokes equation via a pseudospectral method for simulating the instantaneous fluid velocity field is described. Particle removal mechanisms in turbulent flows in a duct are examined and effects of the near-wall coherent eddies on the parti...
